Remember the game based on Avatar, the James Cameron film, announced by Ubisoft years ago? No? You are forgiven; certainly most of the players have forgotten the existence of this project, given that the French company has not released any information recently. Now, however, we are discovering something "new" from an official source.
Screen Rant, in fact, had the opportunity to ask the developers of The Division 2 if the Avatar game was still in production or if it had been lost forever. Producer Jesper Karabanov then simply replied that yes, the title is still in development, but that at this moment can say absolutely nothing about it. Unfortunately, that's all that's been said.
Let's take a few steps back. Ubisoft announced Avatar in February 2017 and simply confirmed that it would be set on Pandora and would include the Na'vi. Even now, we don't know anything else about the officer. Unofficially, however, we had the opportunity to discover something else in December 2018: A trademark of 20th Centuty Fox, distributor of the Cameron film, has revealed the title "Avatar: Pandora Rising". The brand was registered and published by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in May 2019. Tracks stop here. We also consider that Disney has bought Fox, so it is possible that there are new negotiations going on.
At this rate it seems difficult to discover something new in the short term. We know that Ubisoft has planned to release five AAA games by the end of the 2020-2021 fiscal year, or before the end of March 2021: none of these, most likely will be the Avatar video game; it should be Watch Dogs Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine, Gods & Mosters, the new Assassin's Creed game and a new Far Cry (the latter two are, however, highly probable) assumptions.
Probably, we will have to wait a couple of years before we have the Avatar game in our hands, perhaps in PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X format.
In the meantime, you can have fun with Assassin's Creed Odyssey, available on ..
